Balancing Act

Today I will do my best
To acknowledge my hurts
While grading
To keep an eye on my unruly grief
While my children tell me about their days
I will walk through the tunnel of me feelings
While walking the dogs,
Dragging both my screaming inner self
And my stubborn dog
Onward.

I wrote this poem two years ago today, at the beginning of the pandemic.
