Awaking Wake

I awoke
Fifteen months after
I could feel an echo of her
A longing to reconnect
The missing-you part of grief
“I should call her”

Fully awake
I knew there could be
No phone call
She was long gone
Buried for five seasons

A series of unusually pleasant dreams
Gifted me with respite
Ended in waking
To continue my grief.
