Blessing for letting go
By Nancy Ross
This blessing reminds you
That sometimes what we must remove
Is not as simple as decluttering the kitchen
It is not as simple as pulling unused coats
Out of the closet
Sometimes we must get out the shovel
Start digging in the backyard
Until we find that buried box
Of ghosts and bodies
We don’t know how to get rid of
It is a messy and smelly process
We pull the box out of the earth
Open all of the things we refused to see
Set them out on the yard
In the garden
Expose them to fresh air
Sunlight
Letting the process of decomposition begin
Sometimes we must dig up our boxes
To let them rot
Fertilizing our soil
For something better to grow.
Amen
